Setting the context for the research study we interviewed Professor Debra Myhill, Professor of Education at the University of Exeter. She has been involved in the Aspects of Writing study since 2004 acting as a critical friend reviewing both the method and the findings.
Professor Myhill is also Pro-Vice Chancellor, Executive Dean of the College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter in the UK. Her research has focused particularly on young people’s composing processes and their metacognitive awareness of them; the inter-relationship between metalinguistic understanding and writing; the talk-writing interface; and the teaching of writing.
