This half-day conference brings together the Education Policy Institute’s (EPI) programme of work on school structures in England, and will consider if current policy has achieved its stated objective of improving standards in education – and where it should go next.
It will include the Institute’s report, published in June 2018, which looks at the performance of academy chains and local authorities at primary and secondary level.
Cambridge Assessment’s Group Director Public Affairs, Bene’t Steinberg will speak alongside Sir David Carter (the National Schools Commissioner), Amanda Spielman (Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Ofsted), Lord Agnew (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System) and Laura McInerney (education journalist) who will each present their views on what the key system wide challenges are.
The event will conclude with a panel discussion chaired by The Rt Hon David Laws (Executive Chairman, EPI) with representation from groups across the sector – including Leora Cruddas (Chief Executive, Freedom and Autonomy for Schools National Association), Dame Rachel de Souza (Chief Executive, Inspiration Trust), Emma Knights (National Governance Association), and Warwick Mansell (education journalist).
