This seminar will consider the future of Initial Teacher Training provision in England - focusing on course content, quality and support for trainee teachers.
Timed to follow the publication of the recommendations of the Expert Group commissioned following the Carter Review to develop a core framework for Initial Teacher Training, delegates will discuss the next steps for implementation.
Sessions will consider the findings of the Teaching Schools Council, appointed in March 2015 to lead work on developing new standards for Initial Teacher Training mentors, and the National Audit Office’s report, Training New Teachers which found that the government needs to do more to meet its recruitment targets and demonstrate how new arrangements for training new teachers are improving the quality of teaching in classrooms.
Further sessions will explore what measures can be put in place to support new teachers in tackling disruptive behaviour and supporting children with special educational needs, as well as steps to encourage continued professional development (CPD).
