Westminster Education Forum: Reforms to Mathematics qualifications

Westminster Education Forum is holding a seminar based on the future for post-16 Mathematics education. With Sir Adrian Smith’s review into the potential for improving the quality and increasing the scale of the study of mathematics from 16 to 18 expected to be published in due course, this seminar will consider next steps for reforming maths qualifications post-16. Discussions will be around the potential for improving the quality and increasing the scale of the study of Mathematics in the UK, and reflect on the next steps for reforming the qualification.

At this seminar, OCR's, Maths and Technical Subject Specialist, Will Hornby, will be one of the panel members. Will’s session will cover the theme of The new Mathematics A Levels: implementation and contribution of other subjects. The session will explore topics such as challenges facing schools and colleges in the run up to the introduction of the syllabus at A Level, how would the transition work, what are the potential impacts in university admissions and what can other subjects contribute to develop the mathematical skills of A Level students.
