At the BETT 2013 show our stand was 'jam-packed' with visitors who came to see OCR's new resources to support the use of the Raspberry Pi – a low cost, credit-card sized, programmable computer – in the classroom.
On the eve of the BETT show – which is now the largest educational IT show in the world – Google revealed its plans to hand out thousands of free Raspberry Pi computers to schools across the country. And England's Education Secretary Michael Gove announced that computer science is to become an EBacc subject, a move which reflects the importance of computer science to both education and the economy.
As well as discovering OCR's exciting partnerships with the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Computing at School, visitors to BETT were keen to find out about OCR's A Level and GCSE qualifications in Computing as well as the qualifications and resources offered by OCR's sister boards, Cambridge English Language Assessment and Cambridge International Examinations.
