Our archives provide a rich, modern-day source of information for visiting researchers and staff working in the field of assessment research and development. Information on curriculum development and school examinations in the UK and overseas gives researchers an opportunity to make sound evidence-based recommendations on the shape and design of educational assessment for future generations.
Group Archivist Gillian Cooke - who features in our short video below - explains: "Our archive holdings date from around 1880, with documents relating back to our earliest year of examining [1858] being held in the Cambridge University Library. We have also preserved a range of documents from the UK examination boards that merged with us in the 1980s and 1990s."
