I entered teaching in 1998 when I embarked on my PGCE at St Martin's College in Carlisle. I taught for a couple of years in Scotland before moving to teach in London in 2001. I taught in London and Hertfordshire for the next thirteen years and held leadership roles including Head of History, Law and Politics, and Head of Humanities. I taught a range of subjects including history, law, politics, citizenship and religious studies.

I joined OCR as a subject specialist in 2014.  I have been responsible for several subjects including Law, Government and Politics, and Sociology. I led the redevelopment of the new AS and A Levels in Law for first teaching in 2017. My involvement in writing the subject content for A Level Politics and A Level Law, along with the Law development have been the highlight of my time at OCR. I took over responsibility for Religious Studies as Subject Advisor in 2017.

I undertook the Cambridge PGCA in 2017-18 which was of great benefit in developing my thinking on assessment. I am particularly interested in both the history and future of assessment. In my spare time I enjoy walking, playing football, watching sport, going to the cinema and playing video games with my family.
