Canterbury Christ Church University will be hosting @BeyondLevels first #LearningFirst conference of the year. This conference will see an exciting line-up of keynote and workshop speakers including Tim Oates CBE, Group Director of Assessment Research and Development at Cambridge Assessment, who will be discussing assessment development.
#LearningFirst is a community of colleagues from across the education spectrum with an interest in, and a positive agenda for challenge in, assessment practice, who share and learn from each other.
In 2014, Tim recorded a video for the Department of Education in England, in which he discussed the purpose of changes to assessment in England's new National Curriculum and the rationale behind moving away from 'levels'. Subsequently, Cambridge Assessment commissioned a new 45-minute version, allowing for more explanation on how the removal of levels in primary education in England represented an opportunity for schools to introduce new and innovative ways of assessing pupils.
