Research is at the heart of all our qualifications and programmes. We aim to increase knowledge and understanding about assessment and curriculum development, allowing us to help teachers, learners and governments fulfil the potential of education.
Established in 1994, our Research Division includes social scientists, statisticians, assessment and curriculum specialists. We carry out a variety of qualitative and quantitative research in the following areas:
- Curriculum design and evaluation
- Assessment design and evaluation (including accessibility, reliability and validity)
- Setting and maintaining standards, and monitoring comparability
- Research methods.
Our research includes both general and vocational qualifications, and both ‘traditional’ paper-based assessment and digital assessment. We share our research extensively, including via our own online publication Research Matters. We also provide consultancy and partnering services.
